Hello readers, and welcome to the first post of Gillian Knightley, author of drama novels with a good slice of relationship/romance and humour. We can’t spend our entire time being serious, can we?

I came to authoring books later in life, so I do have a good smattering of experience to put into my writing. You may well ask, why now and not earlier? The answer is simple, I just did not have the time. I have always worked and been through several transformations of career in my lifetime. Like most people, the dreaded mortgage had to be paid, so for me, it was simply not possible to think of writing as a full-time occupation. The income levels are too uncertain until you become well known, and you have to start before you become well known. That said, I enjoyed my earlier working life so, fortunately, don’t regret my choices. After many years of reading novels and writing purely for my own pleasure and relaxation, I now have the time to put down into words some of the many ideas I have collected both in notebook jottings and my head.

In future blogs…

In future blogs I would very much like to feature some details about the novels I publish, from both the perspective of subject matter that is close to my heart through to more detail about characters and their motivation. Apart from that, the world of literature and books is something always worth thinking and talking about. There is nothing as satisfying as a good read, it’s something I certainly love to share and discuss with others and hope you do to.

My first novel

Not All That Glisters is due for publication in the Spring of 2025. There are no hiding places when you give your work over to the public who will judge whether they like it, hate it, empathise with it, laugh, cry, reflect on it. Most of all, I sincerely hope you enjoy it.
